This coming weekend you will get to enjoy not only real waders which have started their annual migration to Sungei Buloh but also get a chance to visit an art exhibition of Waders artfully depicted for you to enjoy by the Buloh Dabblers.
I am conducting a special session on bird sketching and painting this coming Sunday 26 June, at the WETLANDS CENTRE( the old Visitor Centre) from 0830 to 11am, in the classroom. Its to equip you with skills to draw and sketch waders found in Sungei Buloh. You may bring any materials, but pencils are just fine too.
Hope to see you there.
We were so fortunate to experience the marshes at Kranji, specially arranged for our Buloh Dabblers to enjoy the reserve and to produce artworks for future use.

Here is my painting I did this morning at the Main Hide, and enjoying yet another beautiful start to my 15th year of volunteering with the sight and sound of migratory birds flying past me now and then.

On the right is the mangrove apple tree that is growing well after the life saving chop off of the upper portion of its main trunk.
To while away the long flight hours, and hotel hours, doodling and sketching from memory helps. The flight seems so much shorter, and waiting was productive, and I get to test my retained knowledge of the birds.
