Encounters with nature 2002 March 27, 2019

The year was 2002, when I first signed up as a volunteer guide at Sungei Buloh Wetland reserve. 17 years  and counting. We have a bigger reserve now and it is still growing in size and community participation. Thanks to National Parks, volunteers and nature lovers, we all have a common interest to conserve, appreciate and enjoy our  nature environment.

These two postcards were part of my contribution to raise funds in 2002. Glad I still have a set of these to share.

Dear friends, 2018 was a busy year for my volunteering at National Parks. However the events held regularly at Sungei Buloh Wetlands and Botanic Gardens kept me much in touch with  Nature physically and in my capacity as Chairperson for Friends of Sungei Buloh.

My passion in painting Nature has not diminished in any way. My biggest ever art exhibition called Beyond Gingers was held in SBG from 14 April to 7 July 2018, with almost 14,000 visitors.  And a Limited Edition coffee table book on this exhibition would  soon be published and made available at Nparks. All proceeds would go to the Garden City Fund.

To round up this year Art in Nature activities, I will be conducting the last outdoor art session for this year on 30 Dec 2018, at Sungei Buloh Wetlands.

We meet and sketch at the Main Hide at the Wetlands Visitor Centre (the old Neo Tiew Entrance) from 9 to 11am on SUNDAY 30 DEC 2018.

You are most welcome to join us for this year end  appreciation of Nature through your creative expression of our beautiful wetlands. You may bring any art materials you have.

Posted here is a sketch ( with a brush pen) from Boardwalk Shelter #3.

Cheers and a Happy 2019 to you, and hope to see you at Sungei Buloh.

This Sunday 28 August we will meet at the ApiApi Lab at 830am, have a briefing there  and weather permitting go outside to explore the coastal forest, all the way to Eagle Point to do or nature sketching. Bring along  any art materials  you have and have fun learning to translate the wetlands in your own special way.

See you at the New Visitor Centre at  Sungei Buloh Wetlands on 28 Aug Sunday at 0830am.

Posted here is a graphite sketch of my favourite croc at the reserve. I call him Alex.
